Mattapan Heights V
Mattapan Heights V, located on the 52-acre campus of the former Boston Specialty and Rehabilitation Hospital, is the fifth phase of Trinity Financial’s decade-long redevelopment of the campus. Working with Domenech, Hicks, Krolmanic, Studio G Architects developed conceptual plans for 120 dwellings in two new buildings, as well as renovations of several historic buildings on campus.
Studio G designed a new 60 unit building fronting on the central common at the west, with an entry courtyard facing a small public street at the east. The design utilizes the sloping grade to create a two- story lobby connecting east and west entries to common spaces on both levels, and to provide terrace apartments at the lower level of the south wing. Ground floor dwellings have direct access to private outdoor space, while upper level dwellings have large windows to take advantage of the vistas afforded by the campus. The high performance envelope is designed with a terra cotta rain-screen assembly. Phase V development is planned to be LEED certified.
